Who we are

Stay Mobile is the trading name of Samantha Khan, a sole proprietor in Cape Town. Samantha Khan is responsible for your personal information and is our Information Officer.

What we collect

When you send the booking form, we collect what you enter:

• your full name, phone number and email address
• your ID or passport number
• your home or permanent address
• an emergency contact's name and number
• the equipment you want, your rental dates, and where we should deliver
• anything you choose to add in the notes, such as the equipment you need or your mobility requirements

We ask for your ID or passport number to confirm the identity of the person entering into the rental agreement, and to administer the rental and the refundable deposit.

If you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email instead, we keep what you tell us there. Please do not send us medical or other sensitive information unless we need it to arrange your rental.

Why we use it

We use your information only to arrange your rental:

• to check availability and send you a quote
• to deliver and collect your equipment
• to confirm who is renting the equipment, and to handle the refundable deposit and any loss or damage under the rental terms
• to contact you, or your emergency contact, about your rental

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing.

Who else sees it

We share your information only with the services that carry it to us, and only so they can do that job:

• Vercel hosts this website. Its servers briefly record technical details such as your IP address; we also hold your IP address for a few minutes to stop the form being flooded with spam.
• Resend sends the booking form to our email inbox, and sends you a copy. Your copy leaves out your ID or passport number.
• Google hosts our email inbox (Gmail), where booking requests are kept.
• WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there.

We may also share information where the law requires it.

Where your information is processed

Some of these service providers may process or store personal information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the transfer and processing comply with POPIA.

Cookies

This website does not use cookies and does not track you with analytics.

How long we keep it

If you enquire but do not rent from us, we delete your information once we no longer need it to deal with your enquiry, or sooner if you ask, unless the law requires us to keep it.

If you rent from us, we keep your information for up to 12 months after your equipment is collected, in case of questions about the rental or the deposit. We keep it longer only where the law requires it, or where it is reasonably needed to deal with a dispute or other legal matter.

Keeping it safe

Your information travels to us over an encrypted connection and is kept in our password-protected email inbox. No method is perfect, but we take reasonable care to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

Security breaches

If we become aware of a security compromise involving your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to contain and investigate it, and will notify the Information Regulator and you as POPIA requires.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

• ask what personal information we hold about you
• ask us to correct or update it
• request the deletion or destruction of your personal information, where the law permits
• object to how we use it
